Royal Metal Works recently completed 6 each custom built wine cases for the Green Valley Ranch Steak House.

Each case was fabricated from #8 304 stainless steel with fully insulated interiors, thermo glass doors and windows at rear.

The wine racks were fabricated from 1 diameter stainless steel tubing with 3/8 x 1 oval slots lasered into one side for LED lighting.

Over 7,000 slots and LED lights were used to complete these 12 6 tall x 10 6 wide x 2 deep wine cases that will contain 3,000 bottles of select wines.

The refrigeration runs from a remote location to each wine case then down specially constructed ducts built into the sides of each case with louvered diffusers running the full height of the interior.

These cases took over 1,800 man hours to construct and install in a three (3) week time frame.HVAC Duct Construction StReleased For 60-Day Review

The 60-day public review draft of the HVAC Duct Construction Standards - Metal and Flexible, third edition, has been distributed to some of our local contractors for review and is also available on the SMACNA Web site for review and comment through Oct.15, 2005.
The primary goals of the HVAC-DCS Task Force were to change and reorganize the standard to be more user-friendly.

The following is a brief summary ofdirected primarily to design professionals; New double-wall construction details for round and rectangular ductwork; Framing channel (strut) for use as trapeze supports and duct reinforcement; New figures highlighting the conditions of use and limitations for transverse joints, longitudinal seams and external reinforcements; New detailed tables for TDC and TDF joints for 4, 5 and 6-foot sheet or coil stock; Expanded midpanel tie rod application toExpanded round duct construction up to 96 inches in diameter; New 6 inch w.g.pressure class for round duct; and New tables for longitudinal and spiral-seam round duct for negative pressure at reinforcement spacings of 20, 12, 10, 6 and 5-feet., plus unstiffened duct.r Change Orders On CD-ROM

SMACNA has developed an interactive CD-ROM to assist members with issues and concerns related to change orders.

Many factors can result in change orders during a project.

Guidelines for Change Orders, on CD-ROM, identifies factors that may produce changes, provides tools to effectively manage project changes, and offers advice for pursuing compensation for costs incurred.
Topics on the CD-ROM include common triggers for change orders, classifying changes, understanding contract change provisions, assessing the risk, documenting and pricing the change, benefits of a standardized approach and presenting the change proposal.

Sample supplementary documents are also included such as a field installation condition form, notice of conflict form, notice of delay form, subcontractor field-originated change order form, and change authorization form.
The CD-ROM is a self-study program with the content built in a logical progression.

Each section contains links to scenarios and questions, and has various self-tests provided throughout the program.

Assessment l questions provide feedback upon completion.
